Choose Your Adventure by Arts & Leisure out 7/9!
Choose Your Adventure” is the debut album from Sacramento, California's, Arts & Leisure. Formed in 2011 by founding members of the orchestral pop outfit, Baby Grand, Arts & Leisure strips things down to the basics (two guitars, bass and drums), but ups the ante (and volume) with two singer/songwriters, Gerri White and Becky Cale.
Charm
A collaboration between Larsen and Andrew Hoke (AKA Bird Peterson, nationally renowned electronic artist and DJ), Flowerss is electro-shoegaze at its finest—twirling guitars drenched in feedback, atmospheric crescendos, thumping pulse and groovy trip-hoppy rhythm. Throw on the duo’s debut release Charm and you’ll be lulled into a sea of trickling beats before being washed over with a full wave of grunge-inspired guitar and emotive, almost ghost-like, vocals.
Arts & Leisure
'Arts & Leisure' is the fourth release by Baby Grand, and it's most diverse and realized release to date. While continuing their tradition of beautifully orchestrated pop songs in the vein of groups such as Belle & Sebastian and Camera Obscura, this album brings more of the band’s influences to the forefront, and breaks out of the indie pop mold with songs that run the gamut from country waltzes to 1960s-era folk and girl group sounds.
Mixer
Desario returns to follow up their Darla Records debut, Zero Point Zero, with the release of a fresh new offering, Mixer. Built on layers of jangling guitars accentuated with bursts of synths and percussion, Desario's gazey pop is like the welcomed first snow of winter watched through the window of a warm room.
Highs and Lows
Soft Science is from Sacramento, California and features former members of California Oranges, Holiday Flyer, The Sinking Ships and Forever Goldrush. The album was produced by Dana Gumbiner (Deathray, Night Night, Tape Op). This is their debut release and it brings a fresh mix of melodic hooks delivered in an ocean of feedback, shimmering guitars, and angelic vocals. Soft Science blends indie pop and shoegaze with lyrics about love both lost and found.
